Karthik, composer, arranger and performer on woodwinds, keyboards and guitars has been an active world musician for over 20 years. He has had rigorous training in Carnatic, Hindustani, Western Classical and Jazz under eminent musical gurus such as Kalaimamani Shri T.S. Sankaran (disciple of flute Mali), Maestro Abdul Sattar (Trinity College of Music), Pandit Krishnanand (Kirana Gharana), Pandit Janardan Mitta (disciple of Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar), and Vidwan Shri Tanjore S. Ganapathy (disciple of Thanjavur Swaminatha Rao, Kalaimamani Thanjavur Upendran and Sangeetha Kalanidhi T K Murthy)
Blessed with early experiences in rich Christian devotional music from his primary school days as a Salesian institution student and subsequently with the Maranatha and Methodist Church choirs and ensembles, Karthik has been featured on a number of devotional recording projects produced in South India. He has performed/recorded with some of India’s music accomplished music composers/musicians such as MS Vishwanathan, AR Rahman, Deva, TM Soundararajan, KJ Yesudas, S Janaki, Chitra, SP Balasubramaniam, P Susheela, Madhubalakrishnan and Unnikrishnan.
He has performed/recorded with Indian classical, semi classical, jazz fusion and world music ensembles in India, Singapore, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Oman and the United Kingdom. Canadian performance venues include the Whole Note World music festival, the Spirit of South Asia festival, CBC Glen Gould Studio concerts, Asian Heritage concerts by Indo Canadian Network, the Raag-Mala Society, the Roy Thomson Hall, the Ricoh Collesium, Air Canada Centre and the Muthadi drum festival. Currently based in Burlington, Karthik actively composes, performs and teaches music.
Achenkunj has 35 years of percussion experience on Kongos, Bongos etc. and 15 years with R8MarkII Rhythm composer. He has played with many bands of various languages. He has also performed with playback singers in India, Middle East, US and now in Canada. He has composed and played music for albums and dramas. Achenkunj has a deep love for all kinds of music and always makes himself available for any musical event.
Boban Mathew is a versatile musician who has been playing with Divya sangamam for the last three years. A self taught Bass player, Boban plays guitar drums and saxaphone. He plays with” Bollywood beats” in Mississauga and the Tamil band”-The Mega Tuners” in Scarborough. He is also part of” Dhwani”- a Malayalam band from Toronto. Music and Food are his passion. He is a Professor Culinary Management Program at George Brown College.
Hansel is a Lead Guitarist, and a part time Keyboardist and bassist. A perfectionist, enthusiast and a perpetual learner Started his career in the field as a Bassist for his church choir at the age of 11 from his Parish Church, St. Anne’s Church, Thrissur, Kerala. Formed the eastern-western band called Enchanters in National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kozhikode formerly known as REC, Calicut During his career in Infosys Technologies Ltd, Mangalore for 11 years, he formed the band called Yantra (Yet Another Night To Rock Away). Has played in western semi-rock bands in Goa as a freelancer during the same stint Has participated in composing some instrumentals while being in Milwaukee, US for 5 years Came to Toronto in May 2007 and has since been part of multiple stage shows with playback singers along with Indian bands including DivyaSangamam He is an employee of RBC, Toronto and settled in Mississauga along with his family.
Jomi started playing guitar for his church group in Kerala in the late 70′s. Upon arriving in Canada in the 80′s he continued to play guitar with his church group and eventually started playing with some local bands including Dhwani. In 2001 Jomi started keyboard lessons with Karthik Ramalingam and made a switch from guitar to keyboard. Jomi accompanied Binoy Chacko on keyboard in 2007 and continues to play keyboard with various local bands including Divyasangamam and Dhwani.
Linu has been learning tabla since the age of five. He started his drumming career with “Dhwani”. He has had the opportunity to grow his music in the presence of the great maestro Karthik Ramalingam. He has accompanied Malayalam playback singers M.G.Sreekumar and Ranjani Jose and the young Tamil singer Karthik Kumar and Chinmai.
Philip (Gee), self-taught Harmonium player since childhood and was blessed to continue playing for the Choir of Kottayam Orthodox Church (Kurisupally). Selected to play and sing with the first English Choir from Kerala for the Mumbai Orthodox Church. Continues to play Harmonium for functions including Kadha Prasangam events with Mr. Joy Udumbanoor.
Currently, Choir Master and keyboard player of St. Peter’s Syriac Orthodox Church of Canada.
He has performed with Binoy Chacko during his 2007 concert in Canada, with local band Dhwani during 2009 and 2010 and with the Kerala Christian Ecumenical Choir in 2011.
Continues to challenge his keyboard skills by taking regular Keyboard lessons from guru Karthik Ramalingam since many years and his guidance has been invaluable and a God sent blessing for Gee and the St. Peter’s Church Choir.
